In Jingpohu UNESCO Global Geopark, sixteen volcanoes have been found, including Forest in Crater Composite Volcano, Daganpao Composite Volcano, Wudaogou Composite Volcano, Mihunzhen Composite Volcano, Frog Pool Volcano and Xingshan Composite Volcano, among which Forest in Crater Composite Volcano is the most famous one. In addition to Xingshan Composite Volcano, all the volacnoes belong to Jingpo Volcanic Group.
Forest in Crater Composite Volcano: It is made up of four volcanoes, No. Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ. From 781,000 years B.P. to 5,140 years ago, there were many volcanic eruptions happened to those four volcanoes. Forest in Crater Composite Volcano is the only region open to the public among the sixteen volcanoes.
Volcano No. Ⅰ: It is the largest volcano among the Forest in Crater composite volcanoes. The altitude is 1,000-1,070 m above sea level (A.S.L). The crater has about 470 m in major axis diameter, 400 m in minor axis diameter and 132 m depth.
Volcano No. Ⅱ: The altitude is 970-1,030 m A.S.L. The crater is about 70 m in average diameter and 50 m in depth.
Volcano No. Ⅲ: The altitude is 980-1,000 m A.S.L. The crater is about 300 m in average diameter and 90 m in depth.
Volcano No. Ⅳ: The altitude is 850-970 m A.S.L. The crater has about 500 m in major axis diameter, 350 m in minor axis diameter and 150 m in depth.
Daganpao Composite Volcano: It is made up of two volcanoes, No. Ⅴ and No. Ⅴ-1.
Volcano No. Ⅴ: Its altitude is 710-750 m A.S.L. The crater is about 250 m in average diameter and 30 m in depth.
Volcano No. Ⅴ-1: Its altitude is 820-870 m A.S.L. The crater is about 480 m in major axis diameter, 230 m in minor axis diameter and 90 m in depth.
Wudaogou Composite Volcano: It is made up of three volcanoes, No. Ⅵ, No. Ⅷ and No. Ⅸ.
Volcano No. Ⅵ: Its altitude is 820-870 m A.S.L. The crater is about 480 m in major axis diameter and 230 m in minor axis diameter.
Volcano No. Ⅷ: Its altitude is 840-854 m A.S.L. The crater is about 250 m in major axis diameter and 120 m in minor axis diameter.
Volcano No. Ⅸ: Its altitude is 830-856 m A.S.L. The crater is about 200 m in major axis diameter and 60 m in minor axis diameter.
Maze Composite Volcano: It is made up of two volcanoes, No. Ⅹ and No. Ⅺand erupted about 11,700 years ago. They are the youngest ones among sixteen volcanoes.
Volcano No. Ⅹ: Its altitude is 900-910 m A.S.L. The crater is about 25 m in average diameter.
Volcano No. Ⅺ: Its altitude is 900-910 m A.S.L. The crater is about 170 m in average diameter.
Frog Pool Volcano (Volcano No. Ⅶ): Its altitude is 750-800 m A.S.L. The crater is about 500m in average diameter and 85 m in depth.
Xingshan Composite Volcano: It lies in the southern part of Jingpohu UNESCO Global Geopark and consists of four volcanoes. Its altitude is 310-322 m A.S.L. The scale is small and the shape is incomplete.
